To me, public safety is the idea that everyone who has access to public space should be free to go about their lives and should feel safe without the threats imposed on them regardless of their social economic status, race, gender, etc.

I think that we can continue monitor our progress. As the prime sponsor of the Peace Officers Accountability Act, I understand how hard it is to help people understand and prioritize policies that would re-balance the power structure and put the emphasis of accountability on the power structure. I believe in the power of the people, and in due time, with our unwavering commitment, we will get there.
